Jobs to do in the garden in March

The BBC website offers a list of jobs to do in the flower and vegetable garden this month at http://www.bbc.co.uk/gardening/today_in_your_garden/jobs_index.shtml. They recommended starting tomato seeds off in a heated propagator. Well, I bought my first propagator at the weekend, put some sunflowers in on Sunday and they'd sprouted this morning, only three days later! Couldn't believe it. I sowed some other flower seeds about three weeks ago and there's no sign of action. Go for a propagator for an early start - we need to do everything we can to extend the growing season in the North of England. I bought mine - A Sankey Groworm 100, from B&Q but they don't seem to show it on their website. I have found it here http://www.capitalgardens.co.uk/acatalog/Propagators.html, annoyingly £2.00 cheaper than B&Q

Did you know 30 minutes of double-digging uses up 344 calories?

I came across this article on gardening being good exercise on the Do It Yourself site. Here's a direct link http://doityourself.com/gardenmaint/gardenexercise.htm They mention a book by Jeff Restuccio called Fitness the Dynamic Gardening Way. Does he have you jumping over pot plants and doing press ups in the vegetable patch? Has anyone read the book or tried the techniques?
